I have had my fair share of stress lately, due to a cruddy situation with school. Unfortunately, my field hours aren't counting past the hours I was making up from last year because I am not taking a certain class this semester, and I did not find this out until it was too late to do much about it. Because I will be at school for a third year anyway, I will be finishing my field hours next year, but I decided to still volunteer my time at the day program despite the hours not counting to gain some valuable experience. So, nothing much has changed besides the fact that my hours won't count toward my overall field education requirements. Annoying? Yes. Stressful? Wayyyy yes. Over? YES! Moving forward, I will be going from three full days a week to two full days a week because three is too taxing with classes and RSD to have it not count toward anything. It wouldn't be worth pushing it with my health status like that. No way.
I'm spending my Saturday writing a policy memo. In grad school, the weekends are the time to do your homework.
I had another poor experience with my pain management doctor while all of this was going on trying to obtain some refills, so I will be using this extra day off a week to find a new doctor. One who does not assume that all young people become addicted to these medications and/or redistribute them on the street for profit. Yup... that is what he thinks.
Despite some setbacks, all is well :-) I have a lot more to be grateful for than most could ever dream of.
Happy Healing!

Hi Maria,
I am sorry to hear that the school situation was still causing stress, it sounds extremely frustrating.
Hopefully you can find a doctor that you like and who can help with the pain.
I am so sorry Maria. I am amazed at your courage, strength, and determination. I believe you will make it. Keep your head up!!! Thinking of you!
Thanks, Zoey! It's over now, so time to move forward, thankfully.
Jes, wow, that is so sweet of you! Thank you for being so supportive. I am always humbled by the kind words my readers say to me. You are all so special.
Ohhh! That just makes me sooo mad for you! How incredibly insensitive of them - worse, it's really quite discriminatory. Does your uni have a disability resource office which could take over advocating as we all know you have TONS to deal with already?
Just wish there was a fair and quick solution for you...
Also that doc is an idiot! There seems to be far too much of that attitude out there and, as patients with real need, we all suffer with those views.
Makes me remember how lucky I am to have doctors who will prescribe the meds I need to get by and KNOW I'm not abusing and selling them. Good reminder since things have been rough in other ways.
Sorry about the bad school situation. You have such a positive attitude that you'll surely get through this! Best of luck and take care of yourself =)
ACK!! <-that was my annoyed reaction that both your uni and doctor have decided to make the month harder for you *shakes fist* I tried to study off campus and couldn't pass the semester when I couldn't attend one on campus weekend because my jaw wasn't in its socket...was so frustrating! Your determination to keep on with your study despite the setbacks is so inspirational for me, once I get my rehab under control I hope to get back to some study :) Wishing you all the best in the new dr search (never fun!) and welcome to Twitter! Very excited to have you there :)
We can do this, Caf! We can finish school and make something real special of ourselves despite what others think and say and do. We'll show them!
