Hi, healers! I'm still here! Sorry I have been missing the last several weeks. I have been attempting to adjust to a new, demanding schedule compared to what my schedule has been like over the last 12 months. I am teaching sociology at a college, working part-time for kriscarr.com (yay!), and coaching middle school cross-country (the above photo is the team and me, minus a few runners). I had quite a stress-induced pain flare that lasted for about three weeks, but it is calming down some at this point. I heard the lesson loud and clear, recognized it immediately, and adjusted accordingly. The lesson was: CALM DOWN and SLOW DOWN!
Teaching is incredibly stressful for someone like me. Believe it or not, I'm quiet, tend to listen versus talk, and prefer not to be the center of attention. So why did I go into teaching? Beause I love academia. I love teaching and learning, which is why I also enjoy coaching. The good news is, I am finally starting to feel comfortable in front of the classroom (and my ninety students total), and I am really enjoying it. It's not as easy as it looks! My past teachers made it look effortless, so bravo!

The ways that I have been managing this flare are the obvious tools I always use: green juice, alkaline, raw, vegan foods, avoidance of sugar, alcohol, and caffeine, LOTS of sleep and rest, yoga, and light activity and stretching. I am learning to manage my stress and stay in the moment, but most importantly, I have kept a mostly positive attitude (besides for a few, short moments of frustration). Reminding myself that it will get better soon as long as I do my part has allowed me to keep going and not miss a day of work, a deadline, a practice, or a meet.
Have you seen this interview I did for the Serene Wellness Blog?
And have you checked out the new KrisCarr.com? It is GORGEOUS! Pre-order Kris' new book, Crazy Sexy Kitchen, HERE!

How about them 'Canes?! Shorter and I were watching the football game in the above photo.
GO 'CANES!
Happy Healing!
